This RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights training course covers both theoretical and practical aspects of working at height. You'll develop safe work method statements and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation. Successful trainees receive a Statement of Attainment.

Entry requirements

All students must be literate in the English Language (no interpreters allowed).
Due to the physical performance requirements of this unit, all students are to have a reasonable level of mental and physical fitness.

People with back, leg, arm or joint injuries may find it difficult to climb / access the practical area and perform activities at height. (Please note that students must be physically capable of wearing a harness and climbing for significant periods of time).

As part of the enrolment process, you will need to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy indicator Assessment. This assessment is used for reviewing your suitability for this course.

What resources do I need?

  • Laptop
  • Internet access
  • Full PPE Clothing
    • Enclosed footwear (steel cap preferred)
    • Long pants and long sleeve shirt – Hi Visibility Shirt or Vest
    • Hard Hat 
    • Safety glasses 

If students do not have a Hard Hat or Safety glasses: ATTC will provide for use if necessary.

Course Outcome

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Australian Trade Training College (RTO 31399)

Where a student has a disability or learning difficulty, assessors will apply Australian Trade Training College reasonable adjustment to ensure that the student is not presented with artificial barriers to progress in the course.

Reasonable adjustments may include the use of adaptive technology, educational support, verbal assessment, etc.

We will provide support to each student’s individual needs, providing additional educational and wellness support required for the student to meet the requirements of their training course.
