Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations.

Successful completion of this course will allow Students to apply for the high-risk work licence – class WP.

Completion of training does not automatically grant a licence. Participants must apply for their HRWL within 60 days of assessment.

Physical Requirements & Limitations for Training and Assessment
Some units of competency within this training program may involve physical activities, such as heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, or operating machinery, which may present challenges for individuals with physical limitations.
Students are encouraged to discuss any physical limitations or specific needs with our support team prior to enrolment so that reasonable adjustments can be considered to support their participation in the training program while maintaining the integrity of assessment outcomes.

As part of the enrolment process, you will need to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy indicator Assessment. This assessment is used for reviewing your suitability for this course.

The minimum level required for entry to this Course is:

Face-to-Face | 3 Days + Pre-reading

• Laptop
• Internet access
• Full PPE Clothing
  • Enclosed footwear (steel cap preferred)
  • Long pants and long sleeve shirt
  • Hi Visibility Shirt or Vest
  • Hard Hat 
  • Safety glasses 

If students do not have a Hard Hat or Safety glasses: ATTC will provide for use if necessary.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Australian Trade Training College (RTO 31399)

Completing this unit opens up numerous career pathways in industries where boom-type EWPs are in high demand, including:

• Construction & Building Maintenance: For tasks involving elevated access for maintenance, scaffolding, or roofing.
• Telecommunications: Installation and maintenance of communication towers and infrastructure.
• Event Setup & Staging: Assisting with the setup of large events and exhibitions requiring elevated access.
• Aerial Lift Operations: Operating EWPs in warehouses, distribution centers, and other facilities requiring high-level access.

Where a student has a disability or learning difficulty, assessors will apply Australian Trade Training College reasonable adjustment to ensure that the student is not presented with artificial barriers to progress in the course.

Reasonable adjustments may include the use of adaptive technology, educational support, verbal assessment, etc.

We will provide support to each student’s individual needs, providing additional educational and wellness support required for the student to meet the requirements of their training course.
